Japan’s industrial production posted a steep month-over-month drop in February, reversing course after a strong gain in the previous period, according to data updated on 14 April 2026.

Industrial output fell by 2.0% in February 2026 compared with the previous month, on a month-over-month basis. This marks a sharp turnaround from the prior reading of 4.3% growth, which was also recorded for February 2026 but reflects the earlier comparison period, when production was measured against the month before.
