Live Cattle Prices Hold at Record High

Live cattle prices are holding at a record high of $2.52 per pound, supported by constrained supply and resilient demand. The U.S. cattle herd has shrunk to its smallest size since the 1950s, while rising ranching costs have helped drive prices up more than 25% over the past year. According to U.S. Department of Agriculture data, cattle slaughter in March is estimated at about 2.2 million head, down from 2.5 million a year earlier. Despite tighter supplies and elevated prices, demand has remained steady.
