The Dutch auto market returned to positive territory in March 2026, with car registrations rising 1.1% year-over-year, according to data updated on 23 April 2026. This marks a sharp turnaround from February 2026, when registrations had plunged 19.0% compared to the same month a year earlier.

The year-over-year comparison shows that while demand remained fragile at the start of the year, the March figures signal a stabilization in the Netherlands’ car market. The rebound from a steep decline to modest growth suggests that at least part of the earlier weakness in registrations may have been temporary, rather than indicative of a prolonged slump.
