FX.co ★ Hungary Jobless Rate Rises to 4.7% in January-March

Hungary’s unemployment rate rose to 4.7% in the period January–March 2026, up from 4.3% in the same period a year earlier. At the same time, the number of unemployed people fell by 9.3 thousand year-on-year, to 226.4 thousand.

Of the total unemployed, 121.9 thousand were men, corresponding to an unemployment rate of 4.7%, while 104.5 thousand were women, with an unemployment rate of 4.6%.

The average job search duration was 12.2 months. Among the unemployed, 35.3% had been looking for work for less than three months, 28.4% had been seeking employment for four to eleven months, and the share of those unemployed for more than a year remained unchanged at 36.3%.

Over the same period, the number of employed people increased by 4.6 thousand, reaching 4.627 million. Employment among men decreased by 36 thousand to 2.457 million, while employment among women declined by 29 thousand to 2.170 million.
