Portugal’s Inflation Eases Slightly in April as CPI Growth Slows to 3.3% YoY

Portugal’s consumer price inflation edged down in April, with the year-over-year Consumer Price Index (CPI) easing to 3.3%, from 3.4% previously. The data, updated on 13 May 2026, indicate a marginal slowdown in price growth compared with the same month a year earlier.

The April reading, measured on a year-over-year basis, shows that while inflationary pressures remain present in the Portuguese economy, they have moderated slightly. The “actual” figure reflects April’s price change versus April a year earlier, while the “previous” 3.4% reading was calculated as the change in the prior month versus the same month a year before.

The small decline suggests that inflation may be stabilizing, but at a level still notably above the very low inflation rates seen in the years preceding recent global price pressures. Market participants and policymakers will be watching upcoming releases to assess whether this easing marks the start of a more sustained disinflation trend or a temporary pause in price acceleration.
