Consumer prices in Argentina increased by 2.6% month-over-month in April 2026, slowing from 3.4% in March and coming in close to market expectations of 2.5%. Regulated prices recorded the sharpest rise, climbing 4.7% on the back of higher transportation and electricity costs. Core CPI rose 2.3%, driven mainly by increases in rents and related housing expenses, along with higher restaurant and dining prices. Seasonal prices were unchanged, as clothing price increases associated with the change of season were offset by declines in tourism and fruit prices. Among the main expenditure groups, transport posted the largest monthly gain, up 4.4% due to more expensive fuel, followed by education, which rose 4.2%. At the other end of the spectrum, food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.5%) and recreation and culture (1.0%) recorded the smallest increases. Cumulative inflation for the year to date reached 12.3%.
