Frankfurt’s DAX 40 trimmed earlier gains to finish virtually flat at 25,178 on Wednesday, as investors weighed cautious optimism over a potential US-Iran agreement against mixed signals from both governments. Iranian state media detailed an unofficial draft peace framework with Washington that reportedly includes ending the US naval blockade and Iran’s pledge to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days. Energy prices declined despite US officials denying the report. Consumer discretionary shares outperformed, with Adidas jumping 5.3% to lead the index. Airline Lufthansa climbed 3.3%. Carmakers were also strong, as Mercedes-Benz Group, BMW, and Volkswagen each advanced more than 2%, supported by upbeat EU monthly car sales data. On the downside, Siemens Energy fell 3.9%, RWE dropped 3.4%, and Fresenius SE & Co lost 2.1%.
