DAX Finishes Lower

Frankfurt’s DAX 40 ended Thursday about 0.3% lower at 25,103, broadly in line with most major European indices, as persistent caution prevailed while traders evaluated the latest developments in the Middle East. According to reports, the US and Iran have reached a 60‑day memorandum of understanding aimed at prolonging the ceasefire and initiating talks on Iran’s nuclear program, although President Trump has not yet given his approval. Conditions in the region remain highly tense, with recent US strikes on Iran and retaliatory attacks fueling sharp swings in oil prices.

Siemens Energy was among the worst performers on the DAX, sliding 3.9%. Other notable decliners included Münchener Rück (-2.4%), Beiersdorf (-2.1%), Hannover Rück (-2.1%), and Allianz (-1.9%). In contrast, defense stocks attracted strong buying interest: Rheinmetall advanced 4.3%, Renk climbed 5.1%, and Hensoldt gained 4.3%. Infineon Technologies and SAP also traded higher, up 3.9% and 1.3%, respectively, supported by ongoing strength in artificial intelligence–related themes and robust gains in leading technology names.
