FX.co ★ Angola Q1 GDP Growth Strongest in Near 2 Years

Angola’s economy grew by 5.3% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, edging up from a downwardly revised 5.1% increase in the previous quarter. This marked the fastest pace of expansion since the second quarter of 2024, largely underpinned by robust non-oil activity.

The non-oil sector expanded by 6.2%, while the oil sector, which represented 19.09% of total output, contracted by 0.2%. Strong growth was observed in information and communication (27.6%), transportation (16.1%), fishing and aquaculture (8.7%), electricity (8.2%), and manufacturing (7.3%). In contrast, accommodation and food services declined by 3.3%, and extraction and refining slipped by 0.2%.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, GDP increased by 1.4% quarter-on-quarter, following an upwardly revised 2.1% expansion in the fourth quarter of 2025. For the full year, the economy grew by 3.1% in 2025, after a 5.0% expansion in 2024.
