FX.co ★ Slovenia Trade Balance Swings to Surplus

Slovenia recorded a trade surplus of EUR 201.5 million in April 2026, a marked reversal from the EUR 392.8 million deficit posted in the same month a year earlier, as exports increased and imports declined. Exports rose by 2.6% year-on-year to EUR 5,981.4 million, supported by stronger sales to both EU markets (up 3.8%) and non-EU countries (up 1.6%). In contrast, imports fell by 7.1% to EUR 5,779.8 million, largely reflecting a steep 19.9% drop in purchases from non-EU countries, while imports from the EU rose by 9.4%. Over the January–April period, however, Slovenia still posted a trade deficit of EUR 2,749.4 million, as exports fell sharply by 20.1%, while imports inched up by 0.1%.
