Lithuania Slips Into Deflation in May as Consumer Prices Dip 0.1% Month-on-Month

Lithuania’s consumer prices turned negative in May 2026 on a month-over-month basis, signaling a shift in short-term inflation dynamics. The country’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell by 0.1% compared with April, according to data updated on 8 June 2026.

The move marks a reversal from April 2026, when Lithuania recorded a 0.6% month-on-month increase in CPI. Under the comparison framework used, May’s “actual” figure reflects the change from April to May, while the “previous” reading captures the change from March to April. The transition from a solid monthly rise to a slight decline suggests easing price pressures in the Lithuanian economy as of late spring 2026.
