Indonesia’s consumer confidence index declined to 120.9 in May 2026 from 123.0 in April, reaching its lowest level since September 2025. The slowdown was mainly driven by softer assessments of current economic conditions, which fell 4.3 points to 112.2. Sentiment toward purchases of durable goods also weakened, dropping 4.3 points to 108.3, while perceptions of job availability over the past six months slid 3.8 points to 105.0. In addition, expectations for income over the next six months edged down 0.4 points to 136.5. In contrast, expectations for job availability and business activity improved slightly, with both indices rising 0.4 points, to 128.1 and 124.5, respectively. Despite the overall decline, consumer confidence remained well within optimistic territory, signaling that households still hold a generally positive view of the economic outlook.
