Sweden New Orders Rise in April

Total orders received by Swedish industry increased by 6.3% year-on-year in April 2026, following a revised 7.2% decline in March. Foreign demand drove the rebound, with orders from abroad jumping 9.8% after a 14.1% drop in the previous month, while domestic orders rose a modest 0.5%, easing from 6.0% growth in March.

By industrial grouping, intermediate goods (1.0% vs. -25.2%) and durable consumer goods (4.5% vs. -0.8%) returned to growth. Capital goods also saw faster expansion, with orders up 10.0% compared to 2.0% previously. In contrast, growth in energy-related goods slowed to 15.0% from 19.8%, and in non-durable consumer goods to 8.8% from 11.0%.

On a monthly basis, total industrial orders rose 5.1% in April, recovering from a 0.9% decline in March. Over the first four months of the year, total orders were still 1.6% lower than a year earlier, as domestic orders increased 2.5% while export orders fell 3.9%.
