South Korea’s Consumer Sentiment Edges Higher in June, PCSI Rises to 47.71

South Korean consumer confidence improved in June 2026, according to the latest Thomson Reuters IPSOS Primary Consumer Sentiment Index (PCSI) data. The index advanced to 47.71 in June, up from 46.57 in May 2026, based on figures updated on 12 June 2026.

The month-on-month gain signals a modest strengthening in sentiment compared with the previous reading, which had stood at 46.57 in May. Under the survey’s methodology, the “Actual” value reflects the change for June relative to May, while the prior “Previous” measure captures May’s change versus April, allowing analysts to track the evolving trend in household confidence over time.

While the PCSI level remains below the neutral 50 mark, the uptick suggests that South Korean consumers have become slightly more optimistic about economic conditions as mid-2026 approaches, offering a tentative positive signal for domestic demand and spending momentum.
