Croatia Producer Inflation Slows in May

Croatia’s annual producer price inflation eased to 6.7% in May 2026, down from a more than three‑year high of 7% in April. Cost pressures moderated in manufacturing (6.4% vs 7.3% in April), led by slower increases in coke and refined petroleum products (71.0% vs 86.6%), wearing apparel (1.1% vs 1.4%), and computer, electronic and optical products (0.2% vs 0.4%). At the same time, price declines deepened for paper and paper products (-3.1% vs -1.9%) and food products (-1.0% vs -0.7%).

In contrast, prices in mining and quarrying accelerated (17.4% vs 12.8%), driven mainly by a sharper rise in the extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas (28.2% vs 14.3%). Producer prices also continued to increase for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (5.5% vs 4.8%), as well as for water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (1.9% vs 1.7%).

Excluding energy, producer price inflation edged up to 1.0% in May from 0.7% in April. On a monthly basis, producer prices fell by 1.3%, reversing a 2.1% increase recorded in April.
