Latvia Producer Prices at 4-Month High

Producer prices in Latvia rose by 1.8% year-on-year in May 2026, accelerating from a revised 0.7% increase in April and reaching their highest level since January. Price growth in manufacturing strengthened to 1.1% (from 0.7% in April), supported in particular by higher prices for chemicals and chemical products (6% vs 3.5%), basic metals (6% vs 5.6%), and other non-metallic mineral products (6.1% vs 4.1%).

At the same time, prices rebounded in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector, rising 1.7% after a 2.7% decline in the previous month. Costs also continued to increase for water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities, up 7.9% compared with 7.5% in April. By contrast, producer price inflation in mining and quarrying eased to 12.2% from 15.5%.

On a monthly basis, producer prices increased by 0.9% in May, following a 0.5% rise in April, marking the strongest monthly gain since January.
