Taiwan Stocks Hit Fresh Peak Above 47,000 Mark

The TAIEX, Taiwan’s benchmark stock index, jumped 1,239 points, or 2.7%, to a new all-time high of 47,704 in Monday morning trading, extending its winning streak to a sixth consecutive session after markets reopened following Friday’s holiday. The index crossed the 47,000 mark for the first time, driven primarily by strength in electronic technology, manufacturing, and commercial services shares.

Gains were partly capped by weakness in US futures, as market sentiment was dampened by concerns over President Trump’s threats to reignite conflict with Iran during the first round of talks under an interim peace agreement.

Electronic technology stocks climbed 3.1%, supported by persistent optimism over AI-related demand. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) — the world’s largest contract chipmaker and a heavyweight accounting for more than 40% of the market’s total capitalization — advanced 3.1%. Among other major names, MediaTek, Delta Electronics, and Hon Hai Precision Industry rose 2.4%, 0.9%, and 2.2%, respectively, while ASE Technology rallied 10.0%.
