Belgium’s consumer confidence indicator improved to -7 in June 2026, up from -10 in May, signaling a modest recovery in sentiment while remaining in negative territory. The upturn was supported by gains across most components. Expectations for the general economic situation over the next 12 months strengthened to -31, compared with -37 in May, and unemployment expectations eased slightly to 13 from 14, pointing to a marginally better outlook for the labor market. Views on households’ financial situation also improved, with the corresponding indicator rising to -2 from -4. At the same time, the saving capacity index increased to 19 from 14, indicating that households anticipate building up more savings even as overall sentiment remains cautious.
