FX.co ★ Chile Retail Sales Growth Accelerates in May

Chile’s retail trade growth accelerated to 4.8% year-over-year in May 2026, up from 4.1% in April, marking the strongest increase since February. The expansion was supported by solid gains in several categories, including used vehicles (8.8% vs. 8.7%), food (4.0% vs. 2.6%), clothing and footwear (8.9% vs. 2.0%), electronics, home equipment, and technological products (6.9% vs. 4.3%), as well as other consumer goods (6.7% vs. 6.2%). On a seasonally adjusted basis, retail trade rose 0.3% in May, offsetting the 0.5% decline recorded in April.
