China’s Factory Momentum Eases Slightly as June PMI Edges Down to 51.7

China’s manufacturing activity expanded at a slightly slower pace in June 2026, with the RatingDog Manufacturing PMI easing to 51.7 from 51.8 in May, according to data updated on 1 July 2026.

The marginal 0.1-point decline keeps the index comfortably above the 50-point threshold that separates expansion from contraction, indicating that China’s industrial sector continues to grow, albeit with a touch less momentum than in the previous month.

While the change from May’s 51.8 reading is modest, the June figure may suggest that the pace of improvement in factory conditions is stabilising after recent gains, and could prompt investors and policymakers to watch closely for signs of either renewed acceleration or a more pronounced cooling in the months ahead.
