FX.co ★ Romania Jobless Rate Ticks Up to 6.4% in May

Romania’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate inched up to 6.4% in May 2026, from 6.3% in April. The number of unemployed persons rose by almost 10,000 compared with the previous month and by 15,100 year-on-year, reaching 522,100.

By gender, the unemployment rate for men increased to 6.3%, up from 6.2% recorded in each of the previous two months, while the rate for women climbed to 6.5% from 6.3% in April. Among people aged 25–74, the unemployment rate remained stable at 4.9%.

In May 2025, the overall unemployment rate had been 6.2%.
