Finnish Industrial Growth Cools Sharply in May, Year‑on‑Year Expansion Slows to 0.6%

Finland’s industrial sector lost momentum in May 2026, with output growth slowing to 0.6% year-on-year, down from a revised 1.9% increase in April 2026. The latest figures, updated on 7 July 2026, point to a clear deceleration in industrial activity compared with the same period a year earlier.

The data, measured on a year-over-year basis, show that while Finnish industry is still expanding, the pace of growth has weakened notably between April and May. In April, industrial production was 1.9% higher than in April 2025, but by May the annual increase had narrowed to 0.6% versus May 2025.

The slowdown suggests that industrial output is losing some of the resilience it showed earlier in the spring, and may signal rising headwinds for Finland’s manufacturing and broader industrial base as the year progresses.
