Canada’s Ivey PMI Eases in June, Signaling Modest Cooling in Business Activity

Canada’s Ivey Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) non-seasonally adjusted slipped in June 2026, pointing to a softer pace of expansion in business activity. The index came in at 59.7, down from 61.3 recorded in May 2026.

While the reading remains comfortably above the 50-point threshold that separates expansion from contraction, the decline suggests momentum is moderating. The June data, updated on 7 July 2026, indicates that Canadian purchasing activity and overall business conditions are still growing, but at a slower rate than in the previous month.

Market participants and analysts will be watching upcoming months’ data to see whether June’s pullback marks the start of a more sustained cooling or simply a temporary pause after May’s stronger showing.
