FX.co ★ Baltic Dry Index Up to 1-Month High

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk freight index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry bulk commodities, climbed about 1.4% on Thursday to 2,910, its highest level since June 8, after a slight decline in the previous session.

The capesize index, covering ships that typically carry 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, gained 2% to a one-month high of 4,569 points. The panamax index, which reflects rates for vessels hauling around 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, edged up 0.4% to 2,253 points. Among the smaller segments, the supramax index added 0.8% to reach 1,700 points.
