Swedish Inflation Confirmed at 0.7% in June

Consumer prices in Sweden increased by 0.7% year-on-year in June 2026, in line with preliminary estimates and slightly below May’s seven-month high of 0.8%. The slowdown was driven primarily by a sharper fall in food prices (-6.8% vs. -6.2%), as well as renewed declines in clothing and footwear (-2.3% vs. +0.7% previously) and in furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-3.0% vs. -1.4%).

Inflation also eased in the transport category (3.5% vs. 6.0%), even though fuel prices remained markedly higher than a year earlier (13.7% vs. 26.9%). By contrast, price growth accelerated for housing and utilities (4.0% vs. 2.6%) and for recreation, sport and culture (1.6% vs. 0.6%), largely reflecting seasonal increases in package holidays, car rentals and international airfares.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.4% in June, down from a 1.0% increase in May. Meanwhile, the consumer price index with a fixed interest rate (CPIF) – the Riksbank’s preferred target measure – climbed 1.3% year-on-year, confirming initial estimates and easing from 1.5% in the previous month.
