FX.co ★ Serbia Building Permits Increases

The number of building permits issued in Serbia rose by 4.6% year-on-year to 2,329 in May 2026, slightly up from a 4.3% increase in April. Buildings accounted for 81.9% of all permits, of which 81.6% were intended for residential construction and 18.4% for non-residential buildings. The remaining 18.1% of permits were issued for civil engineering projects, most of them (77.2%) related to pipelines, communication networks, and electrical lines.

A total of 3,554 dwellings were approved for construction. Of these, 11.4% are planned in single-dwelling buildings, while 87.0% will be located in buildings with three or more dwellings. By region, the largest shares of planned construction were recorded in the Belgrade region (27.4%) and in Zajecar (20.6%).
