Hong Kong Stocks Flat Ahead of Inflation Data

The Hang Seng Index was little changed at 25,133 on Tuesday, as investors stayed cautious ahead of Hong Kong’s inflation data due later in the day. Sentiment was further tempered by escalating tensions in the Middle East, which pushed oil prices higher and reignited worries about inflation and the possibility of additional interest rate hikes.

Losses were limited, however, as Beijing’s recent measures to stabilize the stock market continued to provide support. Optimism was also underpinned by early signs of recovery in Hong Kong’s commercial property sector, after a major office tower owned by CK Asset Holdings—controlled by Li Ka-shing—began to attract new tenants following a prolonged period of weak occupancy.

Among the notable movers were Z.AI Co. (up 9.7%), Tencent (up 0.9%), Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (up 1.5%), Lenovo (up 2.2%), and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (up 1.1%).
