Indian Stocks Edge Lower

India’s BSE Sensex edged down about 0.1% to 76,741 on Tuesday, paring some of the prior session’s gains after breaking a five-day losing streak. Trading in Indian equities was expected to remain range-bound as investors awaited the US Federal Reserve’s policy decision and its assessment of how the Iran conflict could affect US inflation—an issue closely watched by India’s IT sector, which generates a substantial share of its revenue from the US.

On the corporate front, Bharat Electronics and Tata Power were in focus after posting strong quarterly results. By contrast, Coal India came under pressure after missing earnings estimates amid softer volumes and higher costs. InterGlobe Aviation also drew attention following the appointment of Kiran Thadimarri as its new chief financial officer.

Among the notable decliners were Godfrey (-6.3%), CG Power (-5.0%), HFCL (-4.7%), Himadri Specialty (-3.5%), and Bharat Electronics (-3.2%).
