Australia’s Export Prices Accelerate in Q2, Signaling Stronger External Pricing Power

Australia’s Export Price Index recorded a solid gain in the second quarter of 2026, rising 1.1% quarter-over-quarter, more than double the pace seen at the start of the year. The increase, updated on 30 July 2026, marks an acceleration from the 0.5% rise logged in the first quarter of 2026.

On a quarter-over-quarter basis, the latest reading reflects a strengthening in export pricing power compared with the previous period, when prices grew at a more modest rate. The “actual” figure captures the change in export prices in the second quarter relative to the first quarter, while the prior comparison measured the first quarter’s movement against the final quarter of the preceding year. The pickup in Q2 highlights a firmer pricing environment for Australian exporters heading into the second half of 2026.
