Romania’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged down to 6.3% in June 2026 from 6.4% in May, signaling a modest improvement in labor market conditions. The number of unemployed people fell by 10.5 thousand compared with the previous month, but remained 7.1 thousand above the level recorded a year earlier, bringing the total to 511.6 thousand.
By gender, the unemployment rate for men was stable at 6.3%, while the rate for women declined to 6.3% from 6.5% in May. Among individuals aged 25 to 74, who accounted for 72.2% of all unemployed persons, the unemployment rate eased to 4.8% from 4.9% in the previous month.
On a yearly basis, the overall unemployment rate was slightly higher than the 6.2% registered in June 2025.
