Austria Producer Inflation Rises Further in June

Austria’s annual producer inflation accelerated to 3.1% in June 2026, up from 2.8% in May, marking its highest rate since April 2023. The increase was largely driven by higher prices for intermediate goods, which rose 6.6% after a 5.7% gain in the previous month. Prices for consumer goods also edged up 0.2%, following a 0.1% increase in May.

Energy prices climbed for the third consecutive month, though their pace of growth slowed to 2.1% from 2.8% in May. Price growth for capital goods remained steady at 1.0%.

On a monthly basis, the producer price index (PPI) increased 0.1% in June, easing from a 0.5% rise in May. Higher prices for basic metals (2.0%) and for paper and paper products (1.4%) were partly offset by lower prices for chemicals and chemical products (-1.5%) and for food products (-0.1%).
