Dutch Q1 Annual Growth Highest in 2 Years

The Dutch economy grew by 1.3% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, marking its slowest pace in two years and easing slightly from the 1.4% expansion recorded in the previous quarter. Growth was mainly supported by public and household consumption. Government spending increased by 2.5%, while household consumption rose by 1.3%. Fixed investment also added to growth, edging up 0.4% compared with a year earlier. At the same time, exports expanded by 2.5%, outstripping the 2.1% rise in imports and thereby ensuring that net trade made a positive contribution to overall economic growth. On the production side, the trade sector, accommodation and food services, transportation and storage, and the public sector provided the largest contributions to GDP growth relative to the second quarter of 2025.
