Brazil’s Bank Lending Growth Edges Up to 0.7% in June, Signaling Slight Credit Acceleration

Bank lending in Brazil posted a modest acceleration in June 2026, with the month-over-month indicator rising to 0.7%, up from 0.6% in May 2026. The latest data, updated on 30 July 2026, suggest a slight strengthening in credit activity across the banking sector.

The month-over-month comparison shows that while May’s lending had already been growing, June marked a further pickup, indicating a gradual improvement rather than a sharp shift in credit conditions. The “actual” June reading of 0.7% reflects the change from May to June, whereas the “previous” 0.6% figure captured the change from April to May.

Although the increase is incremental, the back-to-back gains may be interpreted as an early sign of firmer demand for loans or a cautiously more supportive stance from banks, with the June move extending the upward trend in Brazil’s bank lending growth.
