FX.co ★ Baltic Dry Index Rises on Friday, Logs Monthly Gain

The Baltic Dry Index climbed 2.2% to 2,732 on Friday, its highest reading since July 27. The Capesize Index, which tracks vessels that typically carry 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, rose 3.1% to 4,296, the highest level in two weeks. The Panamax Index, covering ships that usually transport 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, gained 2.3% to 2,087, marking an over one-week high. In contrast, the Supramax Index slipped to 1,609, its lowest level since June 8. For July as a whole, the Baltic Dry Index advanced 9.2%.
