Indonesia’s Factory Activity Rebounds as July PMI Climbs Back to Expansion Zone

Indonesia’s manufacturing sector returned to expansion territory in July, as the S&P Global Manufacturing PMI rose to 50.2 from 46.9 in June 2026, according to data updated on 3 August 2026.

The move above the 50.0 threshold marks a turnaround from June’s contractionary reading and signals that overall operating conditions in Indonesia’s manufacturing industry have begun to improve. The June 2026 figure of 46.9 had pointed to a decline in manufacturing activity, raising concerns about weakening industrial momentum.

July’s 50.2 reading suggests a stabilization in the sector and may be interpreted by investors and policymakers as an early sign that manufacturing demand and output are starting to recover after the previous month’s slowdown.
