Indian Stocks Rebound

India’s BSE Sensex climbed about 0.5% to 78,822 at the open on Wednesday, rebounding after ending a four-session winning streak in the previous trading day. The uptick came as investors positioned themselves ahead of the Reserve Bank of India’s monetary policy announcement, with markets broadly expecting the central bank to keep the benchmark interest rate unchanged at 5.25%.

Sentiment was additionally bolstered by a retreat in global crude oil prices to around $78.5 per barrel. At the same time, market participants remained alert to the effects of India’s recently introduced closing auction mechanism for derivative-linked stocks, which has added to volatility in benchmark index movements toward the end of the trading session.

Among the notable gainers were NIACL (up 8.8%), Morepen (7.1%), Bluestone (4.9%), and Deepak (2.9%). Looking ahead, investors will closely monitor the RBI’s policy decision, together with trends in crude oil prices, inflation dynamics, and monsoon progress, for guidance on the outlook for the Indian economy and equity markets.
