Estonia Industrial Output Weakens Further in June

Estonia’s industrial production declined by 4.6% year-on-year in June 2026, marking the fifth consecutive month of contraction and the sharpest drop since March 2024. The downturn intensified from the 3.0% decrease recorded in May.

The overall weakness was largely driven by a deeper slump in manufacturing output, which fell 5.3% compared with a 3.5% decline in May. Continued contractions were also seen in the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning, which dropped 12.6%, albeit at a slower pace than the 22.9% fall in the previous month.

Within manufacturing, the steepest declines were registered in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment (-44.1%), computers, electronic and optical products (-13.2%), furniture (-19.5%), other transport equipment (-14.2%), and fish processing (-19.8%).

In contrast, mining and quarrying remained a positive outlier, expanding by 26.7% year-on-year, although this represented a moderation from the 39.9% surge seen in May.

On a monthly basis, industrial output fell 2.3% in June, following a revised 0.3% decline in May.
