France Industrial Output Rebounds in June

Industrial production in France edged up 0.1% month-on-month in June 2025, falling short of market expectations for a 0.3% increase but rebounding from a 0.1% decline in May. Output growth strengthened in extractive industries, energy, and water (3.8% vs 2.9% in May), driven by more robust gains in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (4.2% vs 3.1%) and in water and sanitation (1.5% vs 1.1%).

In contrast, manufacturing output contracted at a faster pace (-1.1% vs -1% in May), reflecting steeper declines in agri-food industries (-0.8% vs -0.3%), coke and refined petroleum products (-12% vs -11.7%), transport equipment manufacturing (-3.8% vs -2.1%), and the production of other industrial goods (-0.6% vs -0.4%). On an annual basis, overall industrial production slipped 0.1%, reversing a 3.1% increase in the previous month and marking its first year-on-year decline since February.
