Brazil Car Production Rebounds in July

Brazil’s vehicle production rose 3.1% month-over-month in July 2026 to 253.9 thousand units, reversing a 3.0% decline in June and reaching its highest level since March. Light vehicle output increased 2.9%, as a 4.3% rise in passenger car production more than offset a 2.9% drop in light commercial vehicles. Truck production advanced 11.2%, with gains across all segments, while bus output fell 8.0%.

For the first seven months of the year, growth in vehicle production accelerated to 8.3%. According to Anfavea, Brazil was the world’s second-fastest-growing vehicle producer over that period, behind India (14.5%). Despite weaker exports and an increase in imports, the domestic automotive industry remained resilient, underpinned by robust local demand. Anfavea President Igor Calvet noted that the sector’s performance was strong given external trade headwinds and import volumes above historical norms. On an annual basis, total vehicle output in July was up 5.9%.
