Shanghai Stocks Hit Near 1-Month High

The Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.6% on Monday to reach a near one-month high of 3,965, while the Shenzhen Component Index slipped 0.5% to 14,233, as investors digested soft inflation data that strengthened expectations of further policy support for the economy. Annual consumer price inflation slowed to a six-month low of 0.5% in July, reflecting continued declines in food prices and more moderate increases in non-food costs. Producer price inflation also eased, falling to 3.5% from 4.1%, its first deceleration since turning positive in March after the oil-price surge linked to the Iran conflict.

Against this backdrop, Chinese policymakers reiterated their commitment to shoring up economic growth through accelerated infrastructure spending, aiming to counter persistent weakness in domestic demand even as exports and factory activity remain comparatively resilient.

On the corporate front, PetroChina and Kweichow Moutai each rose 1.4%, while Foxconn Industrial Internet advanced 2.6%, ranking among the session’s top performers. In contrast, Zhongji Innolight (-3.9%), Eoptolink Technology (-4.7%), and Suzhou Dongshan Precision Manufacturing (-3.4%) underperformed.
