Turkey Industrial Output Falls the Most in 5 Months

Turkey’s industrial production fell 1.4% year-on-year in June 2026, deepening from a revised 0.1% drop in May and marking a second consecutive month of contraction. This was also the sharpest decline since January. The downturn was driven mainly by manufacturing, which shrank 1.5% after expanding 0.2% in May. Within manufacturing, output weakened notably in tobacco products, wearing apparel, leather and related products, printing, and rubber and plastic products.

Mining and quarrying activity also remained in negative territory, though the contraction slowed to 1.6% from 5.5% in the previous month. By contrast, production in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply continued to grow, with the expansion edging up to 1.1% from 1.0%.

On a month-on-month basis, overall industrial production rose 0.1% in June, reversing a revised 3.0% decline recorded in May.
