New car sales in Indonesia rose 33.3% year-on-year to 81,115 units in July 2026, the highest level in five months. This followed a 32.9% increase in June and marked the fourth consecutive month of growth, according to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo). Over the first seven months of the year, sales climbed 18.3% from a year earlier to 437,544 units, underscoring resilient consumer demand despite inflationary pressures and higher prices for non-subsidized fuel. Market sentiment is expected to gain additional support from major upcoming automotive events. Gaikindo has previously set a target for domestic new car sales to reach 850,000 units in 2026, representing a 5.8% increase from the 2025 total of 803,687 units.
