Slovakia’s construction output grew by 1.0% year-on-year in June 2026, slowing sharply from a 6.8% increase in May. This was the weakest expansion since January, as domestic construction activity cooled to 1.1% from 7.8% in the previous month. The deceleration was driven by softer growth in new construction, reconstruction, and modernization, where output rose by 2.8% compared with 7.5% in May, as well as by a notable slowdown in building construction, with growth easing to 2.7% from 11.7%. At the same time, repair and maintenance work contracted by 6.6%, reversing an 11.0% increase in May, while civil engineering output fell further by 1.9%, after a 1.1% decline a month earlier. Meanwhile, construction activity abroad was essentially flat, edging down 0.1% year-on-year, mirroring the decrease recorded in May.
