Singapore Current Account Surplus Widens in Q2

Singapore’s current account surplus rose to SGD 37.08 billion in the second quarter of 2026, up from SGD 30.52 billion in the same period of 2025. This increase was driven primarily by a stronger goods account surplus, which expanded to SGD 70.39 billion from SGD 60.12 billion a year earlier, supported by a surge in exports. The services account surplus also grew, reaching SGD 14.33 billion compared with SGD 12.27 billion previously. In addition, the secondary income deficit narrowed to SGD 2.88 billion from SGD 4.00 billion. These improvements were partly offset by a wider primary income deficit, which increased to SGD 44.77 billion from SGD 37.87 billion over the same period. For the full year, Singapore recorded a current account surplus of SGD 131.96 billion, marginally higher than the SGD 131.67 billion posted in 2024.
