Sweden’s Thomson Reuters IPSOS PCSI Slips in August, Signalling Softer Consumer Sentiment

Swedish consumer sentiment weakened in August 2026, with the Thomson Reuters IPSOS Primary Consumer Sentiment Index (PCSI) easing to 56.55 from 58.60 in July 2026. The latest reading, updated on 13 August 2026, points to a month-over-month cooling in confidence after July’s stronger performance.

On a month-over-month basis, the “Actual” comparison shows that August’s decline reverses part of the gain seen previously, when the index had risen to 58.60 in July. The “Previous” comparison refers to how July’s reading had changed versus June, highlighting that the recent downshift in August follows a relatively firmer environment for consumer sentiment earlier in the summer.

While the index remains above the neutral 50-level, the August pullback suggests Swedish households have become somewhat more cautious compared with the previous month, an important signal for analysts tracking the resilience of domestic demand in the second half of 2026.
