Sri Lanka Manufacturing Activity Picks Up in July

Sri Lanka’s Manufacturing PMI climbed to 55 in July 2026, up from 53 in June, signaling a faster pace of expansion in manufacturing activity. Both new orders (55.9 vs 50) and production (54.5 vs 52) strengthened, supported primarily by solid growth in the food and beverage manufacturing sector. In line with improved expectations, employment edged up to 51 from 50.5, while stocks of purchases remained in expansionary territory at 51.5, though down from 56.6. At the same time, suppliers’ delivery times stayed markedly extended at 61.5, barely changed from 61.6, underscoring ongoing supply-chain pressures amid continued geopolitical tensions. Overall, manufacturers remained optimistic about activity over the next three months, while exercising caution in light of prevailing global uncertainties.
