UK Input PPI Slide Moderates in July, Hinting at Easing Producer Cost Deflation

Producer input prices in the United Kingdom continued to fall in July 2026, but at a slower pace than a month earlier, suggesting a gradual easing in the deflationary pressures facing manufacturers. According to data updated on 19 August 2026, the month‑over‑month Input Producer Price Index (PPI) stood at -1.7% in July, compared with -2.0% in June 2026.

The Input PPI measures the change in the cost of raw materials and other inputs purchased by UK producers, with the latest figures comparing July’s price movements against those in June, and June’s against May. The less negative reading indicates that while input costs are still declining, the rate of decline has moderated, potentially signalling a stabilisation in producer cost dynamics as the second half of 2026 begins.
