FX.co ★ Bulgaria Current Account Swings to Deficit in June

Bulgaria’s current account recorded a deficit of EUR 488.3 million in June 2026, reversing from a surplus of EUR 199.8 million in the same month a year earlier. This deterioration was mainly due to a wider goods deficit, which rose to EUR 806.1 million from EUR 490.3 million, and a significantly smaller services surplus of EUR 662.3 million, down from EUR 1,061.7 million, reflecting weaker performance in manufacturing and transportation services. Consequently, the combined goods and services balance shifted to a deficit of EUR 143.7 million, compared with a surplus of EUR 571.4 million a year before. At the same time, the primary income deficit narrowed slightly to EUR 454.5 million from EUR 456.1 million, while the secondary income surplus increased to EUR 109.9 million from EUR 84.5 million.
