Malaysia’s Export Growth Cools to 38.0% in July, Easing From June Peak

Malaysia’s export growth eased in July 2026, with the year-over-year change in exports slowing to 38.0%, down from a sharp 45.4% expansion recorded in June 2026. The latest figures, updated on 20 August 2026, indicate that while exports continue to grow strongly compared with a year earlier, the pace of that growth is moderating.

Both the June and July readings are calculated on a year-over-year basis, comparing each month’s export performance with the same month a year earlier. The June figure of 45.4% reflected a particularly strong upswing, while July’s 38.0% suggests that momentum, though still robust, has softened as the third quarter begins.

The moderation in July may signal a gradual normalization following earlier surges in external demand, but exports remain a key pillar of Malaysia’s economic performance, continuing to post substantial gains over last year’s levels.
