FTSE 100 Falls, JD Sports Down 10%

The FTSE 100 slipped on Thursday, halting a two-day winning streak. JD Sports was the index’s biggest drag, tumbling more than 10% after the sportswear retailer cut its profit forecast, blaming tough trading conditions in the second quarter. Mining stocks also retreated, with Rio Tinto down 0.7% and Anglo American off 0.8%, while oil majors Shell and BP posted modest declines.

Sentiment remained fragile amid ongoing worries that elevated oil prices could fuel inflation, though a rebound in global bond markets—following action by the US Treasury—offered some support. Investors also kept a close eye on geopolitical developments in the Middle East. President Donald Trump warned that any country providing support to Iran could face economic repercussions as Washington seeks to address the conflict.
